2  Which commandments were given to Joseph Smith, Jun., who was called of God, and ordained an apostle of Jesus Christ, to be the first elder of this church;

  85  That their souls may escape the wrath of God, the desolation of abomination which awaits the wicked, both in this world and in the world to come. Verily, I say unto you, let those who are not the ^bfirst elders continue in the vineyard until the mouth of the Lord shall call them, for their time is not yet come; their garments are not clean from the blood of this generation.

  4  Wait patiently until the solemn assembly shall be called of my servants, then you shall be remembered with the ^bfirst of mine elders, and receive right by ordination with the rest of mine elders whom I have chosen.
