5  For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the ^atempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

  4  And he became Satan, yea, even the devil, the father of all lies, to ^ddeceive and to blind men, and to lead them captive at his will, even as many as would not hearken unto my voice.

  55  And the Lord spake unto Adam, saying: Inasmuch as thy children are conceived in sin, even so when they begin to grow up, sin conceiveth in their hearts, and they taste the ^cbitter, that they may know to prize the good.

  10  But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive ^agood at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

  45  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth ^crain on the just and on the unjust.

  11  For it must needs be, that there is an ^aopposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

  16  Wherefore, the Lord God gave unto man that he should act for himself. Wherefore, man could not act for himself save it should be that he was ^centiced by the one or the other.
