5  Her adversaries are the chief, her enemies prosper; for the Lord hath afflicted her for the multitude of her ^btransgressions: her children are gone into captivity before the enemy.

  2  I, the Lord, have suffered the affliction to come upon them, wherewith they have been afflicted, in consequence of their ^btransgressions;

  4  And that those who call themselves after my name might be chastened for a little season with a sore and grievous chastisement, because they did not ^bhearken altogether unto the precepts and commandments which I gave unto them.

  31  But first let my army become very great, and let it be ^asanctified before me, that it may become fair as the sun, and clear as the moon, and that her banners may be terrible unto all nations;
