19  And Pul the king of ^aAssyria came against the land: and Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver, that his hand might be with him to confirm the kingdom in his hand.

  6  In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away into ^dAssyria, and placed them in Halah and in Habor by the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

  9  For they are gone up to ^aAssyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.
