32  And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name ^bReuben: for she said, Surely the Lord hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.

  6  Let ^aReuben live, and not die; and let not his men be few.

  1  Now the sons of ^aReuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright.

  29  But if ye will not hearken unto him I take away my ^afirst blessing, yea, even my blessing, and it shall rest upon him.

  17  For the firstborn holds the right of the presidency over this priesthood, and the keys or authority of the same.

  3  It was conferred upon me from the fathers; it came down from the fathers, from the beginning of time, yea, even from the beginning, or before the foundation of the earth, down to the present time, even the right of the firstborn, or the first man, who is Adam, or first father, through the fathers unto me.

  17  But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the ^cbeginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.
